Autumn – Chestnut Season on Lake Como
Cari amici, dear Lake Como friends, the golden autumn is a wonderful season to visit Lake Como.
The bright autumn colors of the woods on the mountains, the mild air and temperatures around 20 degrees are just right for hiking.
Collecting Chestnuts – a Pleasure of Good Value
But collecting them by yourself makes much more fun and costs nothing.
Typical regionally chestnut dishes are offered during the fall season in nearly each ristorante. There are, for example, pasta dishes with chestnuts, chestnut desserts and chestnut risotti.
Here you can find a recipe for a Lombard chestnut risotto, which you can try out easily.
If your cooking talent does not allow such an experiment, I can recommend you the culinary festivals taking place around Lake Como. I’ve picked out three of these events and I think there’s something for everyone:
- On 15.10.17 the Rogaro Chestnut Festival takes place in Tremezzo in Via Rogaro. It starts at 2.00 pm.
- On 21.10.17 at 7.00 pm, Dongo will follow with a chestnut dinner “Cena della Castagna” in Via E.G. Falck 2, organized by Pro Loco di Dongo.
These two events are also suitable for children.
- In the Parco Communale di Ossuccio, Via Andrea Castelli 8, the Castagnata di Ossuccio is celebrated on 22.10.17 until the late night.
Apart from chestnut, there is Musica with a DJ, and you can sing along with karaoke.
Tanti saluti e a presto
