Historical Tour in Colico on Lake Como

Rosa Maria Lamberti am Comer SeeCiao amici! Everyone who visits Lake Como knows the lively little town Colico, located at the foot of the mighty Monte Legnone. Due to its location Colico is popular with water sports enthusiasts, mountain bikers and hikers.

Only very few visitors know that Colico also looks back on an interesting and changeful history.

The main places of interest and historical occurrences were compiled to a tourist route by the Museum of Agricultural History, in collaboration with the Fondazione Cariplo. A brochure with a detailed map and the describing of the historical significance of each place is available in the stores of Colico.

The route takes you inter alia to the Church of San Bernardino in Villatico and to the local mills, the last witnesses of the important agricultural past.

You’ll move on to the Church of San Rocco and the well preserved fortifications of Fontanedo. Furthermore this tour offers you the most wonderful panoramic views on Lake Como.

Hafen-von-ColicoAfter you have visited the remarkable Art Nouveau landing place, you should definitely enjoy a well-deserved break in one of the beautiful ristorantes in the 19th century harbor.

If you still want to know more about Colico and the interesting eastern shore of Lake Como you’ll find here my E-Book “Comer See Reisehäppchen” in German language.

Amici, I think, if you know more about the changeful history of this beautiful landscape you’ll see it in a different light.

Tanti saluti e a presto
Rosa Maria Lamberti
